Byron Bay Events – Arts Classic, Evolve Yoga and Starlight Wellbeing

2014 and the upcoming Chinese Year of the Horse are off to a galloping start with not one but three major Byron Bay events on this weekend.

The Byron Arts Classic is a six-day art show celebrating the creative innovation of local artists, held at the Byron Community Centre. This major annual art event kicks off on Friday the 10th of January with an awards night starting at 6pm with food, drink, live music and plenty of art and art lovers in attendance.

You’ll have until Wednesday, 13 January to view over 300 art works at the Dawkins Gallery, a three-level art space in the Byron Community Centre’s theatre. Pick your favourites among the sculptures, photographs, paintings and works on paper. All art works are available for purchase.

The Byron Bay Evolve Yoga Festival is back in town on Saturday the 11th and Sunday the 12th of January at Byron Bay Public School. The offerings include more than 60 classes, workshops and presentations of asana, pranayama, mediation, Ayurvedya, massage and satsang. There are free yoga classes for kids and a new evening program of dance and music. So come browse the exhibitor stalls, have a delicious chai and indulge in a relaxing massage at the Evolve Yoga Festival.

The picturesque village of Bangalow will come alive from the 9th to the 12th of January with the Starlight Wellbeing Festival. Held at the Bangalow A&I Hall on Station Street, this will be the festival’s 17th year of bringing health and wellbeing, personal development and spiritual growth to the Far North Coast of New South Wales. The festival programme includes workshops and presentations on ancient Egyptians, finding your true voice and the mystical chi cycle as well as a sacred healing ceremony. The A&I Hall will be filled with stalls offering Tarot readings, crystal magic, aurasoma, vibrational healing and many other modalities. On Thursday and Friday you can get two for one full price admission tickets so don’t miss out.

So take your pick of festivals this weekend or try to squeeze in a visit to all three. Summer in Byron Bay can be a marathon of fun!
