Autumn in Byron Bay

Easter is nearly upon us and the weather is perfect – just enough rain to keep the gardeners happy with plenty of beach days in between. Tradition has it that we keep gumboots at the ready for the Byron Bay Bluesfest. This year marks the 25th anniversary and, as usual, it promises to be an amazing experience with five days of world class blues and roots music on offer.

Holiday Rental Accommodation

Ed Silk Byron Bay is thankful to be out of the rental side of the real estate business but we do know of a waterfront property in Belongil for rent by the week and best of all it’s available over the Bluesfest/Easter week. For bookings and more information check out the Beachside Byron’s website

Return of the Whales

Next month we’ll start to see some 1,200 Humpback whales passing our shores on their way north to calving and breeding grounds in the Whitsundays and Great Barrier Reef.  No doubt they’ll be much less stressed this year since they no longer have to dodge harpoons on their 2,500km trek from Antarctica. From May to October you should be able to spot the happy cetaceans with the best views from atop the Byron Lighthouse, the viewing platform at The Pass or by sea kayak.

Byron Boardriders Surf Competition

Byron Bay Boardriders have moved the Easter Classic surf competition to the 7-9 June, Queen’s Birthday long weekend. With so much going on in the Bay this time of year it makes sense and with over $10,000 in cash and prizes the Byron Bay BK Memorial Surf Classic will no doubt be hot, despite the winter season.
