31 Oct Far North Coast Markets Arts, Crafts, Food and Fun
If you’re looking for an entertaining shopping experience, the Far North Coast markets are hard to beat. You’ll find markets in every form with Sunday typically being the day for arts and crafts markets and farmers markets providing fresh local food spread throughout the week. There are car boot markets, festival markets, vintage markets, holiday markets and community markets with something for everyone.
The Byron Market is held on the first Sunday of the month at the Butler Street Reserve and for November and December there will be an additional market on the third Sundays to make the most of Christmas shopping Byron style. Stall holders sell everything from dream catchers to cutting boards, jewellery, artwork, honey, clothes, books, pottery, fudge and so much more. You can get a massage, make your own drip candles or tie-dye a t-shirt. Kids face-painting and hand henna art are always popular. With all the strolling about you’ll want a coffee or fresh juice and a bite to eat at one of the many stalls offering ethnic, organic, raw vegan and local cuisine.
There’s always music playing and impressive buskers from youngsters to the occasional visit from famous acts like the Space Cowboy. The market winds up around 3pm when the rhythmic beats of the drum circle get everyone dancing and swaying their way home.
The Byron Bay Community Market has a local charity of the day that benefits from donations made at the market.
Farmers markets abound in the area with fresh, locally grown and often organic produce, meat, seafood, plants, macadamias and coffees available.

Once again, we have to say to ourselves, “We are so fortunate to live here!”
