Latest from The Bay

Was that the best Easter weather in 20 years? It was magic, beautiful sunny days, balmy nights, warm ocean, a surf running and most of all a GREAT Blues Fest.
Again, people gathered in Byron from all over the Planet to kick back and enjoy 4 days of music, food, and fun. The town and festival organisers were totally organised and ready for the influx of humanity. I am continually amazed at how many people can attend the festival and get along in good spirit and grace. Sure the traffic is a little, shall we say, inconvenient yet everyone is chilled (I can’t remember hearing anyone honking their horn) and relaxed about the time it takes to get from A to B.

What’s next on the program in The Bay.

*This weekend April 27th- 29th the 32nd Byron Bay Malibu Classic.

*May 6th the 25th Winter Whales Ocean Swim.

*May 12th and 13th The Byron Bay Tri Multi-Sport Festival.

*May 20th the Bangalow Billycart Derby.

*July 27th-29th Splendour In The Grass.

*August 3rd-5th the Byron Bay Writers Festival.

*Interesting to note Byron Bay’s population is approximately 9,800 people and it’s possible that the entry to this year’s Ocean Swim may reach 2,000 for the first time
