For over three decades, Bluesfest Byron Bay has been the beating heart of live music in Australia. But next Easter long weekend—17 April 2025 to 20 April 2025—marks the end of an era as Bluesfest hosts its final festival at Byron Events Farm Tyagarah. This moment is both a celebration and a bittersweet goodbye, not just for Byron but for all of Australia.
Since it all began back in 1990, Bluesfest has brought incredible talent from across the globe to perform in beautiful Byron Bay. Over the years, the festival has been more than just a music event—it’s become part of the cultural fabric of our region—playing a huge role in shaping both local and national music scenes.
For decades, Bluesfest brought together global legends and rising stars across genres, becoming a breeding ground for Australian music talent to gain exposure on an international stage. It was a space where up-and-coming local artists could rub shoulders with industry heavyweights, learn from them, and get a taste of how it feels to be in the limelight.
For Byron Bay, saying goodbye to Bluesfest means it’s time to let go of one of the key events that’s helped shape its identity as a hub for art, music, and free-spirited living.
Bluesfest isn’t just Byron’s loss; it’s Australia’s. The festival has played a pivotal role in putting Australia on the map as a destination for world-class music events. Over the years, Bluesfest has attracted international icons such as Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Grace Jones and Patti Smith, along with local legends like Midnight Oil and Paul Kelly. This final festival is the last chance for fans and artists to celebrate what has made Bluesfest such an essential part of Australia’s music scene.
Bluesfest wouldn’t exist without the visionary work of Peter Noble. Over the years, Noble has booked some of the most legendary names in music, but he’s also cultivated a festival that feels more like a community. His passion for the event and dedication to create a space for musicians to shine has made Bluesfest what it is today. Noble’s legacy in the Australian music industry will undoubtedly endure far beyond next Easter.
No doubt the decision to end Bluesfest was a difficult one. However, the festival has navigated numerous challenges over recent years, not least the cancellation of its 2020 and 2021 events due to COVID-19 public health orders.
The final lineup for Bluesfest promises to be one to remember! Crowded House, the Hill Top Hoods, and Ash Grunwald are just a few of the big names we’re hearing will be performing. Whether you’re a die-hard fan or you’re curious to experience Bluesfest for the first and last time, 2025’s lineup is rumoured to be packed with talent that spans multiple genres and decades. Expect an unforgettable experience that includes everything from blues and rock to folk and roots.
Tickets for the final Bluesfest are already selling fast with prices at the time of writing starting from $150 a day plus fees. There are a variety of options on offer including single-day tickets, weekend passes, and VIP experiences. You can purchase your tickets directly from the Bluesfest website here. But don’t miss out – early bird tickets have long sold out so if you want to secure your spot at this historic event, make sure you buy yours today!
As the last notes of the final act echo across the Byron Bay landscape, the legacy of Bluesfest will live on in the memories of all those who were there. Next Easter long weekend isn’t just the last Bluesfest—it’s a chance to celebrate everything that this festival has brought to our lives: unforgettable performances, and a sense of belonging to something bigger than just music. Don’t miss out on your chance to be part of the final chapter of an Australian music legend.
