Byron Bay Bluesfest
Bluesfest Byron Bay will celebrate 35 years of bringing outstanding blues and roots music to Byron Shire every Easter long weekend since 1990. This year’s festival takes place from…
With one of the most important dates of the year coming up, it’s time to shake off the winter chill and get ready for the return of Splendour in the Grass Festival.
After being forced to cancel for the last two years because of Covid, the festival will be marking its 20th anniversary from Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th July 2022.
You may be asking who’s playing at Splendour in the Grass 2022. And this year’s festival features an impressive line-up, many of whom were booked to play at the last two events. If you’ve already got your ticket, you’ll enjoy a long list of epic bands with Gorillaz, The Strokes and Tyler, the Creator headlining on each of the three days of the festival.
But it’s not just about the music at Splendour in the Grass. There’s so much to enjoy. The Tipi Forest light shows and performance art, burlesque performances at The Bohemian Lounge in the Global Village and late-night laughs at Splendour Comedy Club.
This year, Splendour also presents the Rainbow Bar, the festival’s first LGBTQI space, and the Temperance Bar for those festival goers who prefer a kombucha or a mocktail over a Stone & Wood.
If you’re someone who likes to keep on top of politics and science, check out the talks and experiments going down at the Science Tent. Or head over to the Splendour Forum and listen to activists, journalists, politicians, and musicians share their thoughts about the hot topics of the day.
With so much going on, you’ll be spoilt for choice with bands, DJs, producers, forums, food, and comedy to keep you entertained. If you’re after a ticket to what’s going to be one of the best festivals ever, head over to Splendour’s resale page before 11 July 2022. Alternatively, if you’re over 18, the festival may still be looking for volunteers – so get in touch with the team – you never know your luck.
Splendour 2022 has a green offset program, which will be helping local renewable energy companies Enova Energy, and COREM to fund new climate initiatives. If you choose to contribute, your $3 green offset payment will be invested in a new solar project – a collaboration with the Arakwal people, the traditional owners of Byron Bay.
We think it’s fair to say that Splendour in the Grass has it all – music, comedy, art, science, debate. What’s not to enjoy? And with a festival this good to look forward to, we’re already asking who will headline Splendour 2023?
