Bangalow & Mullumbimby Country Shows

It's showtime again on the far north coast of New South Wales!

Mullumbimby Show is in the calendar for the weekend of the 10th, 11th, and 12th of November, while the Bangalow Show will take place the following weekend on the 18th and 19th of November. If you’ve not experienced the charm of a country show before, there’s plenty of fun to be had by the whole family.

Getting involved is all part of the experience, so it’s time to dust off your treasured recipes for the baking and cooking competitions, start elegantly showcasing your finest orchids, and adding those finishing touches to your latest masterpiece—all in pursuit of a coveted blue ribbon.

Traditional agricultural competitions are always a crowd-pleaser, with local farmers proudly showing off their various breeds of cattle and poultry. You and your family can also check out the reptiles, alpacas, and miniature goats at the show.

For those who developed a taste for horses at the Melbourne Cup, there are some exciting horse jumping and trotting races to enjoy, along with entertaining contests such as Rodeo Musical Chairs. The Mullumbimby Show will even feature a truck show, and in Bangalow, the Dog High Jump event promises to delight the audience.

Pet shows, pie-eating contests, talent quests and the Young Woman of the Year Competition are all firm favourites at our local country shows. There’s also a line-up of fantastic music to keep you entertained, along with thrilling rides, games of chance and the highly anticipated fireworks display, which will light up the night sky at around 8.30 pm on both Saturday nights.

For well over a century, communities throughout Byron Shire have been hosting these traditional celebrations of our rich farming heritage. So, why not make a weekend or two of it and come along and enjoy all the fun of a country show, New South Wales style.
