Byron Winter Holiday Time

The school term is over and it’s officially Byron Bay Winter holiday time. The nights may be chilly, even a bit frosty inland, but the days are warm and sunny with clear views from the Nightcap Ranges to the sparkling Coral Sea. Even the whales are enjoying themselves, leaping and spouting as they migrate north.

Now that the Winter Solstice has passed the days are getting longer and we’ll have more light to explore the many wonders on the beautiful Far North Coast of New South Wales. Get out into the sunshine with a day on the golf course or sea kayaking to Julian Rocks. For a family holiday outing you could gather the clan for a hike or bike up to the Byron Lighthouse or take a walk along the many beaches from Brunswick Heads to Ballina. With the winter humpback migration in full swing you’re sure to do some whale watching along the way.

If you’re looking for activities for the kids, the Spaghetti Circus is offering holiday workshops from July 7th to 9th.

The Macadamia Castle is another favorite with children (of all ages) with the combined attraction of Australian zoo animals, miniature golf, an excellent cafe and macadamia laden gift shop. And if you’re looking for Byron Bay gift hampers take a look at the Byron Bay Gifts website for a taste of local that can also be delivered Australia wide.

Another beautiful day out is a trip up to the Byron Hinterland with a stop at scenic Minyon Falls and the Crystal Castle where you can stroll through Shambhala Gardens where statues of Buddha reside among the flowering bushes, or try a meditative walk around the Labyrinth. The afternoon Peace experience includes a trip to the Peace Stupa and spin of the prayer wheels. There are crystals, jewellery, tarot readings and massages available as well as fresh local food, cakes, tea and coffee from the Lotus Cafe. A perfect way to spend the Byron Bay winter holidays, in paradise.
